Statistics is the science of collecting, classifying, presenting, and interpreting data.
An undergraduate major in Statistics will study foundations in Statistics, statistical methodology, and data analysis. The goal is to provide each student with a firm understanding of each branch of this diverse discipline along with significant technical awareness of the subject.
An advantage to studying Statistics as an undergraduate is the vast array of opportunities available after graduation: Statisticians at the B.Sc. level are needed in industry, government, and in academics (colleges, technical/vocational schools).
For a diligent student (who may be preparing for graduate school) we offer 2 streams in statistics:
B.Sc. Major in Statistics
B.Sc. Major in Mathematics and Statistics
B.Sc. Minor in Statistics
For a more interdisciplinary student we also offer structured programs in statistics and biology, and statistics and economics.
Finally a more specialized yet exciting actuarial program widens the students knowledge base and program and includes topics like finance, numerical analysis, and actuarial theory.
